Welcoming Thakzin to the Jetblack family
We are proudly welcoming Thakzin to the Jetblack family.
Considered by many as one of the most promising & versatile Electronic South African producers, his genre-bending universal sound is fusing forward-thinking South African genres with the roots of a wider African culture and Urban and electronic influences from around the world. Inspired by the Sangoma’s Zulu Traditional Healers, Thakzin has a profound belief in the healing power of music and the virtues of spiritual elevation & positive energy through the universality of dancing.
His groundbreaking single “The Magnificent Dance” (released on Sondela) became one of the most viral tracks of the South African summer of 2022 & caused a stir globally, laying down the foundation of 3Step, a disruptive hybrid of Amapiano, Afro & Deep House installing him as its originator & uncontested leader.
In 2023, Thakzin’s rise has been unstoppable thanks to strong singles such as Don’t Let Me See (released on Foliage and remixed by Jimpster) or the very hyped Possessed (released on Shimza’s Kunye imprint), which confirmed him as a mainstay in the selections of Keinemusik, Atjazz, Osunlade, Louie Vega, Pablo Fierro, Hyenah, Caiiro & Laurent Garnier as well as in the most important BBC1 shows of Pete Tong & Benji B. Additionally, some of his remixes became game changers, installing him at the forefront of the most spectacular rising artists of 2023: Yes God of Oscar MBO (reworked with Mörda & Mhaw Keys) and Dj Kent’s classic Horns In the Sun (featuring catchy new vocals of Brenden Praise) helped him to take the world by storm & gaining momentum in UK, the US & Central Europe.
A DJ at heart since his early years, Thakzin is an in-demand performer in South Africa playing major events such as Ultra Festival, Spring Fiesta, El-World Festival, Keinemusik or Kunye. After debuting his first international shows in Hong Kong, Amsterdam & Paris end of 2023, his DJ schedule is in full steam for 2024 with double sold-out London debuts with Sondela & Deviation (UK) and forthcoming gigs in La Reunion, Cologne, Amsterdam, Paris, Zurich or Lisbon.
