Floyd Lavine’s “Afro-Futurist” EP
Floyd Lavine dropped his record label Afrikan Tales last year on the 5th of February. With a debut release,” We Here Now” by himself. Floyd shared the following about his label, ” African Tales is a boutique label and concept focusing on only the most bespoke music that is influenced by the rich culture of Africa”.
2022 saw the label drop their first EP of the year, “Afro-Futurist” with various artists and Floyd Lavine released his track named Vaseline in the body of work. The track garnered support from producers and DJs such as Jimi Jules, Manoo, Maceo Plex, Tom Ravencroft, Mawimbi, Trikk, Laurent Garnier, and Vinnie Da Vinci.
The track is a fierce slice of Afro-futuristic techno funk and an ode to self-empowerment.”The message of this track is about accepting all aspects of yourself – both the good and the bad – in a non-judgemental life. The imperfect perfection is something that guides me and is a philosophy I want to share with others. I want to come to the world with authenticity at all costs. This creates life, love and beauty.” says Floyd.
