ABOUT

Born in Lisbon, this is also where his heritage converged with his mother being originally from Angola and his dad from Cape Verde. DJEFF delivers us a modern african rooted sound that fuses forward thinking electronic music with the rich past of house music.

Back in 1999 he started to attend the matinees at an historical club in Lisbon – Bauhaus. While his friends spent most of their time dancing, DJEFF was focused in observing the DJs performing their craft. A spark was lit in him which then propelled a whole new journey.

After graduating in Design & Graphic Designs back in 2008, DJEFF decided to move to Angola (Luanda). It’s there that he started working on music production, greatly influenced by the surrounding ambience.

After his first singles and remixes his debut album “Malembe Malembe” came out in 2011, co-produced with Dj Silyvi.

This album was released on Kazukuta Records – his own label – which was the first electronic focused record label coming out of Angola. The main objective was, and still is, to provide a platform for talented individuals that might struggle to get the opportunity of releasing their music.

His debut album was followed by “Soldier Assention“ (2013) “Gratitude” (2017) and “Enlightend Path“ ( 2020) which got remixes from Henrik Schwarz, Shimza and Floyd Lavine.

In between DJEFF dropped “ZUGU ZUGU” through SPINNIN’ DEEPS which features Zakes Bantwini on the vocals. The track became a hit with the likes of Pete Tong playing it on BBC Radio One but also selecting it for “Pete Tong: Essential Selection (2018)”.

The enthusiasm he spreads on the decks, his passion for music and his great skills quickly gained attention and brought him to shows all over the globe with highlights like Untold Festival, Suncébeat, Watergate, Rex and Djoon Paris, Fabric London and tours in South Africa, Mexico, US etc next to big headline shows in Portugal and Angola of course.

And it looks like the best is still to come !
